Hello! My name is Marie Hoehner and I am from Newmarket, NH, which is a small town near the coast. I have lived there for my entire life and attended Newmarket Jr. Sr. High School. I love to walk through the downtown area and grab something to eat; one of my favorites is an amazing little breakfast place called The Big Bean.

My parents moved to Newmarket from Hamburg, Germany, shortly before I was born. My grandparents, cousins, aunts, and uncles still live over in Germany so my family and I try to visit at least once a year. This has fueled my love for traveling. I find it fascinating to explore new places and learn about all the different cultures in the world. I have found that a country does not have one shared culture; each region has its own, shaping the nation as a whole.

Currently, I attend the University of New England. I am a Medical Biology major on a pre-med track. Eventually, I hope to attend medical school and specialize in orthopedics. Movement and physical activity has always been a vital part of my life and I want to enable others to become active again. On that note, I am a member of the women’s soccer team here at UNE. It is has been a challenge both physically and mentally but the hard work and grind I put in to be successful on the field translate to my effort in the classroom. Outside of soccer and school, I love to surf and longboard with my dog in the summer, snowboard in the winter, and spend quality time with my friends, family, and dog.
